Flashlight for Exchange v1.2

OK….this is a little unfair I guess…..reviewing my own software. But hey….what use is a little power if I can’t abuse it eh?

I wrote this software to alert us to when our Exchange 2003 queues were building up.
When the pre-defined thresholds are exceeded an alert is sent to the administrator via email or text.

This version has the ability to monitor 12 servers and the Administrator, SMTP relay and Server names can be loaded from a text file….all suggestions from our whiney Messaging Administrator ;-)

The software requires the .NET 1.1 framework installed on the monitoring workstation and is agentless as it connects to the Exchange server through WMI.

We’ve been using this software now for 2 years and its always the first thing to alert of email issues.

Admittedly the software is lacking the hypnotizing interface of Spotlight and those other tools, but from a functionality perspective it can’t be beat.

Software is free to use and you can get it from the downloads section. If you like it, please consider a donation

Having been part of the original design team ;-) I must say this software is awesome. It was well designed and certainly does more than its share for the money. I highly recommend it for anyone needing to watch their queues.

Monitor a key part of your exchange environment.

System allows you to specify which servers to monitor, how large the queues are to get and if they go over a limit you can program the system to send you a message or in my case I have it send my phone a text message in case my blackberry or mail server is not working.

Still waiting for version two! Rumor has it the flashlight will turn yellow when the queues start to approach the limit you set and orange when it goes over the limit.
